Elgin Courier June 9, 1910 Born February 8, 1908, at Teague, Texas, died May 9, 1910 at Elgin, Texas. Again the somber shadow of the Death Angel’s wings have fallen athwart our parthway, again in the grim messenger has made his presence felt in our ,midst. Little “M.L.” Potts, son of Mr. Tom Potts of Teague, Texas, died Sunday night at the home of Mrs. Lorena Butler, and was buried Tuesday at the old Baptist Church, the Potts family burying ground. Orphaned almost from birth and always delicate, little “M.L”, the pet and idol of those in whose care he had fallen, received more than the care that usually falls to the lot of those little ones left desolate by the grim reaper. All was done that love and skill could do, but to no avail. The dainty barque was too frail to weather in safety the stormy voyage of life’s rough sea, and Christ, the loving pilot, tenderly guided it over the harbor bar safe into the shining port. And while there is a mist in our eyes and a n ache in our hearts we realize that God knows best, and “He doeth all things well.” And tho we may not feel the touch of baby fingers on cheek and brow, we know that over yonder in the glorious afterwhile, we’ll meet again. A Friend Elgin Courier June 9, 1910 Mrs. Elizabeth E. Miller (nee Elizabeth E. Morgan) was born in Memphis, Tenn., October 5, 1832; died at Goodman, Texas, June 1, 1910. She came to Texas and settled in Bastrop in 1840, where she was married to W.G. Miller in November, 1859. To them was born seven children only two of whom are still living, Mrs. Jackson and Mr. G. B. Miller. One sister and one brother survive her. She was a devoted member of the Elgin Baptist church and the Ladies Aid Society. The evening’s sun of her life has now set, all in darkness, sorrow and gloom. But the crystal rays of a life so beautifully lived reflect back their loving remembrances of this noble woman who we all feel better for having known.
